Romano x Reader
Like I Love You

Today was just another day of school and another reason to not do anything. You sighed as you wished it to go away. No motivation to do anything in particular, not even moving to go into your next class. A boy came up with a pout on his face.
“Hey.” He said.
“Hey, Romano.” You smiled.
“Wassup?” You asked, pulling your sleeves over your wrists subconsciously.
“Nothing much.” He sighed and sat next to you. “I hope Mr. Carriedo actually stays on task.”
You laughed and straightened up like everyone else as the Spaniard walked into the room. He had his usual lazy smile on his face as he walked by. He dropped his things onto his desk and started class by jotting notes on the chalk board. You leaned back in your seat and started to copy everything he wrote.
Class went by and Romano had his head on the desk. He moved up and down slowly as he slept. You smiled and nudged at his arm. He groaned softly and stretched as he opened his eyes. He leaned back in his chair and acted like nothing happened. You giggled a little and looked at the board.
Class seemed to drag on some more and you resorted to doodling on your notes. Mr. Carriedo was a great teacher and all but he never knew how to talk about what you were supposed to learn. Instead he talked about that and everything else in between. In other words, he was easily distracted by random questions.
“Mr. Carriedo!” Alfred called out.
“Yes, Mr. Jones?” The Spaniard smiled.
“I played a game recently and it said the Lorenzo was saved by someone named Giovanni.” Alfred said. The British man next to him slapped his hand against his face and groaned.
“Really?” Mr. Carriedo said. He quickly grabbed one of his books and started leafing through it.
You and Romano started to laugh. Alfred always said random things he learned from video games that made no sense. You coughed a little and Romano looked over to make sure you were all right. You waved him off and said you were okay. Maybe today wasn’t so bad after all.

Romano sighed when he sat at his table. {Name] wasn’t in his third class. She had Music instead of Literature. He swore he thought he saw another mark on her wrist this morning. And it was haunting him like a ghost story would a small child. He knew she wasn’t doing well since her parents died and he’s done everything he could to make her feel better too.
Sometimes he felt it wasn’t enough.

You sighed during class. You felt empty without Romano being around. You felt that maybe you wouldn’t survive the day. You sighed in sadness and listened to your teacher drone on about music terms.
Maybe today was the day… Lunch was almost starting.

“Fratello, will you leave me alone?” Romano sighed.
“But but!” Feliciano pouted.
“I’m not in the mood today.” Romano said. He looked around the cafeteria as his brother sighed in his seat. Romano frowned when he didn’t see you.
“Hey, where’s [Name]?” He asked Feliciano.
“Elizabeta said she was eating on top of the roof.” Feliciano answered, stuffing some spaghetti in his mouth.
Romano groaned and headed for the roof. He thought it was strange that you’d want to spend lunch there. He knew you hated being up there, especially if it was rainy out. He raced through the hallways and made it towards the staircase. He saw your backpack by the door and shook his head.
“[Name], what’re yo-“ Romano froze as he opened the door. He saw you standing at the roof’s edge with a dull look on your face.
“DON’T!” He called out and grabbed your wrist.

You fell back and landed on the cement. You felt your cheeks flush and something warm underneath you. You looked up and saw Romano’s pouty face. You tried to move away from him but your body wouldn’t respond.
“What do you think you were doing up here?” He asked, his voice was shaky.
“I…” You tried to think of an excuse. You looked down at the ground and felt a dark cloud hanging above your head. Everything felt like it was going to crash and explode all at once. Romano wrapped his arms around you and leaned his forehead against your back.
“[Name], please don’t do anything like that again.” He said.
You nodded and felt tears forming at the bottom of your eyes. Your vision became blurry and you turned around to cry on Romano. Romano held you in his and tried to calm you down by stroking your hair. He rubbed your back and just let the moment pass.
